Caroline Karason, known professionally as Red Charcoal, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from London, England. She began playing and writing music at a young age and was inspired by various artists with unique and diverse cross genre musical styles.
After graduating from the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London with a degree in Cosmetic Science, Caroline went to teach abroad in South Korea where she also received training in Korean musical storytelling, she then graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London with a teaching degree and moved to Iceland due to marriage.
In time, Caroline moved back to London and later Essex and she began performing, producing and recording songs under the stage name Red Charcoal and quickly gained a following for her unique style, blending elements of pop, rock, and experimental music.
In early 2023, Red Charcoal officially released her debut album, "Imperial Collection", which featured 41 tracks, previously released as singles that showcased her eclectic range of influences and experimental soundscapes. The album helped establish Red Charcoal as a rising star in the indie music scene.
Since then, Red Charcoal has continued to produce and release music under her record label Scheherazade Records for artists such as Baby Electrum. Her music is characterised by her unique vocals, innovative songwriting, and genre-bending approach to composition.
In addition to her work as a musician, Red Charcoal is also a visual artist and filmmaker. She has directed and produced several music videos for her own music and collaborated with other artists on various multimedia projects.
Today, Red Charcoal continues to push the boundaries of music and art, inspiring audiences with her unique creative vision and boundless imagination.
